The Character Builder gives non-animators the power to create high-quality Flash character animation. Use it to add a character to your web site or to create character-led training and promotional materials. The Builder produces royalty-free Flash SWF files that can be uploaded to any web server, and played on any Flash 6 or higher player. The Character Builder runs on Windows XP or higher, including Vista.

Character Server

The optional Character Server is used by developers to create applications involving dynamic character generation. The Server is normally used in conjunction with Microsoft Windows Server 2000 or 2003 running IIS or Apache web server software. The Character Server is available under a Standard or an Advanced license. The Standard license lets you deliver dynamic Flash streams for use with Character Builder-generated Dynamic Speech and AIML projects, using server-side Text-to-Speech. The Advanced license adds additional API for use in character solutions, including online audio recording, video generation, and the upcoming Photo Fit API.

Additional Characters

The Character Builder comes with a few characters in each style. Other characters are available for free download or for a one-time fee. Please see the characters page for information on available characters and character add-ons, and the services page for more information on custom characters. Each character license lets a single user create unlimited content using that character.

Speech Packs

The Character Builder comes with the ability to record your own voice, as well as to import audio from a recording studio. A real human voice always sounds best, but many clients enjoy the convenience of high-quality text-to-speech engines, especially for material that is updated frequently. You can use any voice with any character. Note that all Speech Pack sales are final, so please take the time to try your own sample text in the vendor-provided interactive demos.

The new Version 7 Loquendo Speech Packs with Expressive Cues™ represent the highest quality in synthetic speech. These packages are available for use with the Character Builder and Character Server only, and will not work with other software. They specifically permit the redistribution of the resulting audio when embedded in the output of Media Semantics products. Listen to the samples below, or use the vendor-provided interactive tester. The Loquendo Speech Packs are premium products, however the pricing may be comparable to other packages when ordering multiple voices. Extensibility Kit

The Extensibility Kit is an add-on to the Character Builder that includes Flash, Adobe Illustrator, and eFrontier Poser source files. The kit is primarily aimed at artists wishing to create their own plug-and-play characters, whether for internal use or for sale.

There is no charge for the Extensibility Kit at this time, however we are only able to provide technical support for the kit via our Extended Support program. To request the kit, please contact sales@mediasemantics.com, or include a note in the Special Instructions field when placing your order.

Extended Support

Standard email support for the Character Builder and Character Server is free, but normally prevents us from working with your content directly. With Extended Support we can work with your team directly to provide prototyping, training, and consultation. An Extended Support package lets you pre-pay for hours that may be used at your convenience during the course of a project.
